The Clarisse Cuvée Vieilles Vignes emerges from a 3-hectare plot of 65 year-old vines on limestone soils. Expressive dark fruit and powerful, incisive tannins are two of the signatures, while hints of smoke, leather and new oak add aromatic intrigue. A big wine, the Vieilles Vignes is going to require a measure of patience. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, vinified in oak and aged in 50% new French oak barrels. VINOUS 88-91
The Château Clarisse Vieilles Vignes 2014 is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc raised in 50% new oak. The nose is intense with mulberry and dark plum mixed with incense aromas that expand in the glass. The palate is medium to full-bodied with fine tannin, good acidity, lightly spiced with a persistent finish. This is a fine Puisseguin-Saint Emilion. WA 89-91
